lyrics
REALITY HAS BEEN SOLD OUT
Dark carpets
heavy oak wood
the hard brick faces of venerable institutions
scholars of the shadows
reveal a history of murky interweavings
the name of the man behind Brutus
gives you an idea why JFK had to die
This is the truth of knowledge
Reality has been sold out
Reality has been sold out
White glass and polished metal on the 49th floor
shadowy pilots
both invisible and unknown
sit in the cockpit of the blue planet
this our own blue planet
they keep the scoreboard ticking along
and have their hands on the purse strings
for sure
these guys have bigger balls
than the President of the United States of America
This is the truth of ultimate power
Reality has been sold out
Reality has been sold out
Where is the outside
and
what is more
where is the inside of this undefinable world?
The shadows of the world wide web
fall upon the globe
a seemingly unending network of malls
is only interspersed by backyards of half-truths
and we are left trudging through the mire
We stand expectant
and wait to get on the carousel
but its once beautiful paintwork is flaking off
only to be replaced by the poster paint of blogs and tweets
we never go places
but we know where places are
Google Earth and Wikipedia
are the sorcerers of our age
There are so many cynical conspirators
their dicks shrunk
from all these missed opportunities
for a real life
some are well paid for the slime they ooze
the slime of deception and manipulation
which poisons our hearts and lungs
in all the smoke-free bars and cafés
It doesn’t matter what they say
as they sip their latte grandes
they’ll still call it truth
This is the truth of Digital Maoism
but the truth is
more and more
my friend
that
Reality has been sold out
Reality has been sold out
Lost in a web of million lies
Lost in the complexities of the modern time
